I. Regular Courses

Remote Sensing from Aerospace platform has become a valuable tool for acquiring, monitoring, and management of natural resources and the environment. Geospatial Technologies play an important role towards achieving the national objectives of food, water, energy, shelter and infrastructure security, sustainable development and disaster risk reduction. Trained personnel at various levels of knowledge and skills are required to understand, analyze the spatial data for utilisation/application in their area of specialisation. Training & Education Division of NRSC offers various regular and thematic courses on Geospatial Technologies and Applications towards capacity building of users from Government, Private, NGO and Academic Institutions.

Microwave Remote Sensing and Applications (May, 2018)

Towards capacity building and effective utilization of data from indigenously developed RISAT-1 microwave sensor by user community from various Government, Private, NGO and Academic Institutions, NRSC organises a 2-week special course on “Microwave Remote Sensing Applications”. The training covers the fundamentals aspects of Microwave Remote sensing, data processing and applications with emphasis on RISAT-1.

Geospatial Technologies and Applications (November, 2018 to February, 2019)

The 12-week training course on “Geospatial Technologies and Applications” addressing core Remote Sensing, Digital Image Processing and GIS Technologies with necessary practical and applications in Agriculture, Soils, Forestry, Land use/cover, Geology, Geomorphology, Urban studies, Water resources, Ocean and Atmospheric sciences followed by 3 weeks Hands-on project .

II. Theme Oriented Courses

To promote the use of Geospatial Technologies and Applications among user communities addressing Basic and advanced topics, one to two week courses will be organized for users from Government, Private/NGO, and Academia. Participants attending thematic courses of one week or more will be given optional extension of maximum 5 days for their Hands-on/Practical sessions at NRSC outreach facility Jeedimetla with no additional course fee., To/fro local transport support for Balanagar and Jeedimetla would be provided during hands-on:

Details for Optional 1-week Extended work @ Jeedimetla

The list of training courses is given below:

2-week “Remote Sensing Applications for Land Resources Management” (May, 2018)

Geospatial technologies are widely used in land resource management for better utilization of resources. The 2 week course covers the Remote Sensing Applications towards utilisation of Satellite data for planning, mapping, monitoring Land resources addressing agriculture, soils/land degradation, water resources, Land use planning, rural development and Land resource management aspects with necessary practical sessions .

3- day “Geospatial Technologies for Climate Studies” (May, 2018)

Geospatial approach harnessing existing global datasets, along with new generation remote sensing products, offers a unique basis to examine the Earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere in areas that are affected by climate change or affect climate. The geospatial technology tools enable retrieving/deriving spatio-temporal information on land-atmosphere-ocean processes. An understanding of these processes is helpful towards realization of the sustainable developmental goals of our ecosystem.

2-week “Hyperspectral Remote Sensing and Applications ” (June, 2018)

The Hyperspectral Remote Sensing in India is gaining popularity as it could be used in various resource applications such as mineral mapping, vegetation classification, water quality assessment, snow related studies. To provide insights into this emerging technology, two weeks course on Hyperspectral remote Sensing and Applications will be organized that will cover principles of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing, Field spectro-radiometers, Imaging systems, airborne and space borne sensors, Image analysis, feature extraction techniques and Applications.

1-week “Remote Sensing for Geological Applications” (July,2018)

Images acquired from Remote sensing satellites are widely used for various Geological applications. The one week course covers Remote sensing for Geological Applications with emphasis on ground water prospects, mineral exploration/mining and geo hazards.

1-week course on “Large Scale Mapping for City/Urban Planning and Panchayat Raj Application” (September, 2018)

This course is aimed at decision makers/ middle level officials/planars to have overall knowledge regarding the availability of Large Scale data products, pre-processing of the data, generation of ortho, DEM, and preparation of large scale maps with an emphasis on City/Urban Planning and Panchayat Raj Applications beside addressing AMRUT project.

2-week course on “Open Source GIS” (October, 2018)

III. Bhuvan

Bhuvan is India National Geoportal providing versatile visualization of Indian topography, thematic and disaster services for a rich web experience like any other. The training comprises of an overview of all the functionalities on Bhuvan like Visualization, Data down load, Map services, crowd sourcing, API and Applications carried out for Ministries & State Government departments and Disaster Support Services on Bhuvan etc., including Hands-on exposure on Bhuvan portal. 2-Day Bhuvan Overview Training programme is conducted Four times in a calendar year. The training will be organized at NRSC Jeedimetla Outreach campus at Hyderabad. The outstation sponsored participants with sponsorship certificate will be provided accommodation at Guest House – II at NRSC Balanagar campus. Vehicles will start at 9:00 AM from Balanagar to NRSC Jeedimetla Outreach campus. Others advised to report to Jeedimetla campus directly.Admissions are based on Online Registrations under Bhuvan Website

IV. ISRO-In-House Training

Structured Training Programme (STP) [ for ISRO Scientific community]

The “Structured Training Programme (STP)” is a unique training programme conducted by ISRO every year towards capacity building for the ISRO scientific community across different centres. In this regard NRSC organises one week ISRO STP programmes based on current thrust areas for ISRO/DOS Scientists.
