Kumbh Mela, 2013
The Kumbh Mela has a special religious significance. It is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation at Haridwar, Allahabad, Nasik and Ujjain. This Year the Kumbh Mela is being held at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh from January 14, 2013. Efforts were made to capture the Kumb Mela Event through Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS). Kumbh Mela, 2010
The Kumb Mela is a unique religious event where the Government makes elaborate and extensive arrangements. However the number of beneficiaries and participants on specific dates and events have mostly been in the realm of speculation and 'Informed Judgement'. Uttarakhand Space Applications Centre (USAC) in consultation with NRSC planned and executed a scientific study for the Kumb Mela Event, 2010 using Resourcesat and Cartosat data of 14th April, 2010.
