National Carbon Project - Soil Carbon Dynamics

This project envisages understanding the dynamics of soil carbon especially soil inorganic carbon through various pedogenic processes. In this study, the variability of soil carbon dynamics is proposed, to understand the role of soil as a sink or source for carbon under changing land use scenarios. The study is initiated with an objective to understand the contribution of soil respiration towards carbon efflux, to understand vertical variation  in  soil carbon as a function  of land cover, topography and soil and   spatial variation in soil carbon as a function of surface erosion  processes.
