Precision Agriculture in Mono Cropped Systems

With the objectives to assess the large-scale variability in soil parameters essential for crop management and delineation of homogeneous nutrient management zones, this project was taken up. Using the space based inputs from temporal LISS-IV data coupled with intensive field observations, the variability of macro-nutrients essential for crop growth were studies in two test sites for Paddy and Wheat. Isodata clustering was used to delineate homogeneous management zones. Nutrient requirement for these zones was calculated using the Soil Test Crop Response Equations developed though local research. Through this approach excess fertilizer application was reduced in high productive zones and increase the net farm was noticed by adjusting fertilizer dose in low yielding zones.
