User Interaction Meet 2013
A two-day “USER INTERACTION MEET” with an Exhibition showcasing IRS data and its application potential was organised by NRSC on 21th and 22nd February 2013 with emphasis on RISAT-1 and RESOURCESAT-2 missions.Delegates from various sectors attended the meet. The emphasis was more on catering to needs of Private and Academic sectors so that the technology reaches the grass root as well as research community. A total of 188 delegates comprising of 62 from private sector , 33 from academic sector 38 from state govt and 55 from central govt participated in the meet. Prof V Jayaraman Prof Satish Dhawan Professor ISRO HQ has kindly consented to be Chief Guest and Dr. Y V N Krishnamurthy Director IIRS , has kindly consented to be the Guest of Honour.
On the first day of the meet inaugural and 3 technical sessions were organised to familiarize the users with Earth Observation Sensors and Applications, Microwave Data Processing and Applications & Contemporary Technologies in Earth Observation. In inaugural session, welcome address was given by Dr. D S Jain In charge Director NRSC, followed by release of user meet proceedings DVD by Chief Guest and release of Full India MRS mosaic by guest of honour.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr P G Diwakar Director, EOS. It showcased 40 exhibits containing of RISAT-1 outputs of different polarisations , modes and diffret theme based applications , capacity building etc.The technical session -1 was about the “ Earth Observation Sensors and Applications” The session was chaired by Dr. Diwakar Director EOS and Co chaired by Dr A .Jeyaram GM RRSSC East. The technical session 2 was on “ Microwave Data Processing and Applications” The session was chaired by Shri Tapan Misra DD, MRSA , SAC and Co Chaired by Smt. Valarmathy , PD , RISAT-1, ISAC. The technical session 3 was on “Contemporary Technologies in Earth Observation”. The session was chaired by Dr.R Ramachandran, Director NTRO and co chaired by Dr.J Krishmamurthy , ISRO HQ. Dr Ramachandran. On 22nd Feb 2013, two main sessions and three parallel sessions one plenary session were planned. The technical session -4 was on “National and User projects” chaired by Dr C B S Dutt , DD, ECS and co chaired by Dr Nagaraja, GD NDC. On the second day afternoon three parallel sessions 6A, 6B & 6C interactive parallel sessions for Private , Academic & Govt sector users were organised. This session enables the users to present the work done by them and share the experiences one to one with us.
Technical session 6A was for the Academic users chaired by Shri Ratnakumar and Co chaired by Dr K P R Menon. There were 17 participants and 9 presentations form the users. In this session the data related issues , data products for research community were discussed and clarified. Technical session 6B was for the Govt users chaired by Shri P Srinivasulu GM ASDMA and Co chaired by Dr A Subbunagulu Head DD-S. Shri D.Chandrasekharan,Head Data Dissemination-Central, There were 20 participants and 5 presentations form the users.Discussions were held on data issues and needs of the Govt sector users.
Technical session 6C was for the Private users chaired by Shri S K Subramanian GD RSAA and Co chaired by Mrs Kaveri Devi Head FSD. Mrs Kaveri Devi , has made presentation highlighting the high resolution data needs and policies to the users. There were 2 presentations form the users. In this session the data needs for the private sector users, including IRS data availability for other countries at Indian price for carrying out projects at competitive cost was discussed.
The panel session was chaired by Dr Diwakar with panellist ,Shri D S Jain DD, SDAPSA, Dr C B S Dutt DD , ECSA, Dr Raghavaswamy DD RSAA , Dr R Nagaraja , GD NDC & Shri P Srinivasulu , GM , ASDMA. The Panel session was open to the users for discussions after giving introductory remarks by the dignitaries on the dias. Shri D S Jain outlined the types of services offered by NRSC and invited users for suggestions and feedbacks to improve the services.
