User Interaction Meet 2012

During the year 2012 a two-day “USER INTERACTION MEET” with an Exhibition showcasing IRS data and its application potential was organised by NRSC on 16th and 17th February 2012 with emphasis on Space based Earth Observation Information for all. With a wide reach and attended by about 400 delegates from India and abroad, it has been instrumental in demonstrating the ease of accessibility of IRS data and enhancing the goal of our Earth Observation Programme.

Dr. R.R.Navalgund, Director Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad has kindly consented to be Chief Guest and Dr. Swarna Subba Rao, Surveyor General of India, Survey of India, Dehradun has kindly consented to be the Guest of Honour. The meet consisted of 3 technical sessions on 16th February, 2012 to familiarize the users with trends in EO sensors and services, thematic applications and User experiences of IRS data utilization. Before the start of the technical sessions, we had Inaugural Session followed Exhibition inauguration by Guest of Honour. During inaugural session, welcome address was given by Dr. V.K.Dadhwal Director NRSC followed by release of user meet proceedings DVD by guest of honour and launch of ISRO unified Portal and address by Chief Guest.
 

One plenary and four parallel sessions covering users from government, academic, private and foreign re-sellers were organised on 17th February, 2012 and the summary of these sessions was presented by the respective co-chairs. Demonstrations related to Web based Thematic Services - Bhuvan and Data Browsing & Ordering System were organised. User feedback forms were distributed to all delegates for obtaining their views, suggestions and requirements related data requirements and services offered by NRSC. The feedback given by users was consolidated for review and further action. During the user meet, open session was organised on 16th February 2012 at 100 seater conference hall to facilitate young scientists from NRSC to witness and obtain feedback on the technical sessions. Young scientists nominated for this session have actively participated and feedback was received from 24 participants. About 85 delegates who attended the User Meet have requested to provide accommodation as per their eligibility and all these participants were provided accommodation as per their requirement. Transport was arranged to all delegates for pick up and drops on request basis.Participation Certificates were issued to delegates.
