I. Regular Courses

Remote Sensing from Aerospace platform has become a valuable tool for acquiring, monitoring, and management of natural resources and the environment. Geospatial Technologies play an important role towards achieving the national objectives of food, water, environment and energy security, sustainable development and disaster management. Trained personnel at various levels of skill and experience are required to understand and analyze the spatial data. Training & Education Division of NRSC offers various regular and special courses on Geospatial Technologies and Applications towards capacity building of users from Government, Private, NGO and Academic Institutions.

Microwave Remote Sensing Applications ( April 2017)

Towards capacity building and effective utilization of data from indigenously developed RISAT-1 microwave sensor by user community from various Government, Private, NGO and Academic Institutions, NRSC organises a 2 week special course on “Microwave Remote Sensing Applications” ( April 2017). The training covers the fundamentals aspects of Microwave Remote sensing, data processing and applications with emphasis on RISAT-1.

Geospatial Technologies and Applications

Training & Educations Division organises 12-week training course on “Geospatial Technologies and Applications” addressing core Remote Sensing, Digital Image Processing and GIS Technologies and applications in Agriculture, Soils, Forestry, Landuse cover, Geology, Geomorphology, Urban studies, Water resources, Ocean and Atmospheric sciences. ( November 2017)

II. Special Courses

To promote the use of Geospatial Technologies and Applications among user communities addressing Basic and advanced topics, one to two week courses will be organized for users from Government, Private/NGO, and Academia. The list of training courses is given below:

6 Day “Remote Sensing Ground Segment Systems” (March, 2017)

6-Day special training on “Satellite Ground Segment Systems” is being organized for the benefit of the scientists and technical staffs who are engaged in the satellite ground segment systems installed by NRSC across India or want to gain knowledge in this field. Officials working in these areas also need to familiarize with the state of the art Technology and advancement on the next generation data acquisition chain for rapid storage, retrieval and dissemination.

Training courses on GIS

GIS is an important tool for capturing, analysis and dissemination of spatial data. It has become a vital aspect of organizations and institutions dealing with spatial data to gain knowledge and skills in effective use of Geospatial tools in various tasks required by analysts working on GIS projects.

2-week training on “Open Source GIS” ( May, 2017)

A two week training course on “Open Source GIS” is scheduled during March 2016 for the benefit of beginners in this field. Topics include Concepts of GIS, Spatial Data Models, Data Capturing, Basic Operations on Spatial Analysis, Mobile GIS, WebGIS, and Bhuvan Web Portal, Hands-on on Open Source GIS Tools.

2-week training on “Advances in GIS” (August, 2017)

A 2-week Training on “Advances in GIS” is scheduled during June 2016. In the course, topics like Geostatistics, Surface Analysis, Decision Support Systems, Network Analysis, Spatial Modelling, Spatial Information systems like NUIS, WRIS, NDEM and Bhuvan Web services will be covered by domain experts.

1 week “Hyperspectral Remote Sensing” (July, 2017)

The Hyperspectral Remote Sensing in India is gaining popularity as it could be used in various resource applications such as mineral mapping, vegetation classification, water quality assessment, snow related studies. To provide insights into this emerging technology, one week course on Hyperspectral remote Sensing will be organized that will cover principles of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing, Field spectro-radiometers, Imaging systems, airborne and space borne sensors, Image analysis, feature extraction techniques and Applications.

2-day course on Satellite Navigation Systems (IRNSS & GAGAN) (June & August)

2-day course on Satellite Navigation Systems is conducted twice a year which covers ISROs navigation satellite systems IRNSS & GAGAN and observation techniques and applications.

Structured Training Programme (STP) for ISRO’s Scientific community

The “Structured Training Programme (STP)” is a unique training programme conducted by ISRO every year towards capacity building for the ISRO scientific community across different centres. In this regard NRSC organises one week ISRO STP programmes based on current thrust areas.
